Encouraging Big Ideas: STEM Play in Pre-K
About the Event
Preschool children are naturally engaging in STEM learning everyday as they explore, play, and try new things. Educators can encourage children’s development of STEM skills by providing learning opportunities and materials that support exploration and discovery. This training will help participants learn how to support STEM in centers, provide materials to plan for STEM activities, link STEM concepts from books into activities, and enhance children's thinking.
By the end of this training participants will:
1. Describe how to support STEM in centers/interest areas
2. Explain how to provide materials to plan for STEM activities
3. Identify how to link STEM concepts from books into activities
4. Describe how to reflect on teaching practice using the STEM self-reflection checklist
