Building Community in the Preschool CLASSroom
About the Event
Please contact elcbtraining@elcbroward.org if you have questions or need assistance.
A positive classroom culture sets the tone for children to develop warm, respectful, supportive relationships with their classmates, teachers, and the school at large. When teachers intentionally plan learning experiences and routines that foster community building among the children they are meeting the children’s sense of belonging, self-esteem, as well as increasing their autonomy and leadership skills. The purpose of the “Building Community in the Preschool CLASSroom” Training is to provide teachers with tools to help create a classroom environment where children feel safe, acknowledged, and motivated to learn. The participants in this training will gain knowledge on both of these building blocks to help integrate and increase CLASS into daily routines.
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the importance of the positive effects that building an intentional classroom community produces
2. Discover the importance of including traditions, routines, and rituals to create a strong foundation for a classroom community
3. Identify key components of the Pre-K CLASS tool
4. Describe how community building traditions, routines, and rituals connected to the Pre-K CLASS tool
5. Discuss how they will implement the strategies presented at the training in their own classroom
