Back to the Basics: Developmentally Appropriate Practice for Preschoolers

About the Event

Preschool teachers work daily to support young children in their growth, development and learning. There are many strategies we can consider implementing as we strive to provide the most supportive learning environment as well as learning opportunities to help them succeed. We provide them with the tools they need as they grow into successful citizens within their classroom learning communities. In order for teachers to be effective facilitators of children’s learning, we must prepare ourselves to have knowledge of child development and learning, to understand the importance of getting to know each child’s strengths, interests, and needs, and to have knowledge of the social and cultural contexts in which children live. In this webinar, teachers will be able to recognize what Developmentally Appropriate Practices with Preschoolers are. Also, we will discover ways to incorporate Developmentally Appropriate Practice into the daily routine and learning environment.

By the end of this training, participants will:
1. Recognize DAP (Developmentally Appropriate Practice) with preschoolers and the basic principles of development
2. Identify misunderstandings about Developmentally Appropriate Practice
3. Discover ways to incorporate Developmentally Appropriate Practice into our daily planning and learning environment
4. Recognize the Importance of partnering with parents
5. Discover how to reflect on our teaching practice to ensure alignment with DAP
